Yesterday while driving home, listening to my XM, I came across a song and was reminded of a revelation from a few years back. I’ve always felt the Devil was robbed in “The Devil Went Down To Georgia”. Mr. Beelzebub clearly had the funkier fiddle showcase, complete with a band of demons, and pyrotechnics. I mean fire flew from his fingertips. Johnny’s fiddle solo was mediocre at best. I’ve never really understood why the Devil conceded that Johnny was better. My only theory is that it makes for more upbeat, positive song. Ending with the loss of a soul to Satan might not make for a radio friendly tune.

The rules:
List ten songs that you are currently digging…it doesn’t matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they’re no good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the ten songs in your blog. Then tag five other people to see what they’re listening to.

1. Date Rape – FishBone
Look at All the Love We Found: A Tribute to Sublime
I miss Sublime. This tribute CD reminds me of high school.

2. Theme for a Pretty Girl That Makes You Believe God Exists – Eels
Blinking Lights and Other Revelations

3. Only – Nine Inch Nails
With Teeth
I love the funky 80s drum hook.

4. Friends – Ryan Adams
Cold Roses
I am always digging some Ryan Adams.

5. We Are All on Drugs – Weezer
Make Believe
This is by far my favorite song of the new CD.

6. Last Days of My Bitter Heart – Eels
Blinking Lights and Other Revelations

7. Back Then – Mike Jones ( Don’t act like you don’t know da name)
Who Is Mike Jones?
I’m not sure if I love or hate this song. Everytime I hear it I end up singing it for the rest of the day. Maybe I should come out with a CD, repeat my name and cell phone number on every track and get rich.

8. I’m Not Okay (I Promise) – My Chemical Romance
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
I love this song. I keep listening to it, and have yet to get tired of it.

9. Doesn’t Remind Me – Audioslave
Out of Exile
I think Chris Cornell could sing the phonebook and it would be good.

10. Best of You – Foo Fighters
In Your Honor
I’m not sure about the rest of the CD yet, but I like this song.

Tag you’re it!

DavidBabylon

Kristin

Anyone else that would like to be tagged leave a comment and let me know.

Let me begin by saying I had a subscription to Rolling Stone for almost 10 years. I had every single issue saved (in order) since then. I have just recently canceled my long running subscription to the magazine. The following reason, along with many others should prove why. The fools at Rolling Stone have compiled a list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Rolling Stone, not content with sending me 6 issues a year with that no-talent hack Britney Spears on the cover, decide to validate my cancelation of my subscription with this insane list. VAN MORRISON appears at 19, 10 places before the first Led Zeppelin album is even mentioned. Nirvana’s Nevermind of course is OVERrated at 17. Amercian Recordings at 364?! Disintergration at 326?! And, how did everyone’s favorite Swedish supergroup ABBA slide allll the way down to 180. Good god, this entire list is totally insane. I hope with all of my cold black heart that the Rolling Stone building burns to the ground killing all employees. What has happened to my once beloved Rolling Stone magazine?

(*Editor’s Note – The ABBA reference was sarcasm.)
