I gave swfir a go on the most recent project I was working on. I must say as I developed the site in firefox swfir was a dream, then I went over to IE and immediately had issues.
Only one image per page would swfir-ize in some cases, others more than one. It was very hit or miss. Were it not for the deadline I am sure I could have got things working.
In short, it is cool as hell, but may require some fiddling to get cross browser consistency.
Crap, sorry I messed up your blog, I meant that to end up on the swfir post.
Feel free to delete/move that.
