I now use <a href="http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/word-press-1-5-plugin-referer-bouncer/" rel="nofollow">this plugin</a> to automatically bounce people back from where they came from if the referring url contains a string of words that I deem disturbing. It also helps to thwart the spammers as well :-) I used to get up to five or more "sick" referrers a day but I am now down to one or two a week, and when I do get a sick string, I just put it in my refer file and I never see it in my refer stats again. It does help me with my stats in general, since I really don't want to include such hits in my logs. I have the same problem…well, I should say I used to have that problem.
